Distribution Drive by Department of Social Welfare Chhattisgarh and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India Praised by Mayor

A large-scale assistive device distribution programme for senior citizens was organized at Gandhi Sabhagruh, Rajnandgaon, by the Department of Social Welfare, Chhattisgarh, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Jabalpur.
Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, who attended the event as the Chief Guest, described the initiative as “commendable and exemplary.” He congratulated the beneficiaries and emphasized that such welfare programmes significantly improve the quality of life of elderly citizens.
During the programme, assistive devices were distributed free of cost to 270 senior citizens. Officials informed that within a span of one month, more than 500 identified elderly beneficiaries across the district have been provided assistive aids worth approximately ₹50 lakh under the scheme.
Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Vaishali Maradwar, stated that eligible senior citizens were identified and medically assessed through special camps before the distribution. The initiative aimed to ensure that beneficiaries received devices suited to their specific needs.

The assistive equipment distributed included wheelchairs, wheelchair commodes, walkers, folding crutches, tetrapods, walking sticks, hearing aids, cervical collars, spinal supports, LS belts, foot care kits, polymer gel cushions, and stools with commodes, among other aids. Officials noted that identifying and reaching a large number of elderly beneficiaries was a challenging yet fulfilling task.
Senior citizens expressed happiness upon receiving the devices and extended their gratitude to the government and administration for the support.
The programme was attended by Janpad Panchayat President Pratima Chandrakar, District Panchayat Member Sheela Sinha, Janpad Vice-President Anita Sinha, District Panchayat Chairperson Devkumari, Councillors Shenki Bagga and Sharad Sinha, Sarpanches Chuneswar Sahu (Kopedih) and Dan Kumar Sahu (Kotra), ALIMCO Manager Nitin Mahaur, Joint Collector Sheetal Bansal, Nayab Tehsildar Rajnandgaon, and other public representatives and officials.
