Rajnandgaon’s renowned Baba Ramdev Temple came alive with devotion and celebration on Tuesday as the customary 10-day Magh Fair began amid prayers, rituals and a vibrant religious atmosphere. The fair, organised annually on the occasion of Badi Dooj, has been a long-standing tradition and holds immense significance for devotees across the region.
The day began at 5 am with a Prabhat Pheri, in which a large number of devotees participated, chanting hymns and devotional songs. Following this, a formal puja-archana was performed in the temple premises. Throughout the day, the temple witnessed a steady stream of devotees, including women, men and children, creating a deeply spiritual and festive environment.
In the evening, a grand milk abhishek of Baba Ramdev was performed for nearly two hours. The temple complex resonated with chants of “Jai Baba Ramdev” as devotees offered milk, flowers and prasad, seeking blessings for peace and prosperity.
The highlight of the day was the night-time devotional music programme. The popular bhajan duo Nikhil–Shyam enthralled the audience with soulful renditions of Baba Ramdev’s bhajans in Rajasthani and local folk styles. Devotees were seen swaying and singing along, immersed in devotion.

Eminent Sundarkand singer Pandit Ganesh Mishra, known nationally for his devotional performances, was also present on the occasion. Accompanied by his son Nikhil Mishra and nephew Shyam Sharma, his presence added prestige and spiritual depth to the event.
Addressing the gathering, Pandit Ganesh Mishra shared details about the upcoming programmes during the fair and spoke about arrangements being made keeping the expected heat in mind. He also highlighted the temple’s traditions and the grace of Baba Ramdev.
The temple will continue to host various religious and cultural programmes over the next 10 days. The Magh Fair attracts many devotees who are unable to visit the temple throughout the year, making it not only a centre of faith but also a platform for social interaction and communal harmony.
The temple premises remained immersed in devotion, music and joy throughout the day and night, reflecting the enduring spiritual significance of the Magh Fair in Rajnandgaon.
