Chief Guest Lokesh Kanwadiya Highlights Sign Language as a Global Medium of Inclusion and Brotherhood

World Sign Language Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and a spirit of inclusion at Aastha School for the Deaf in Rajnandgaon. The programme aimed to promote awareness about sign language and reaffirm commitment towards the social inclusion of persons with hearing impairment.
The chief guest on the occasion was Lokesh Kanwadiya, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Disabled Finance Development Corporation Board. Vaishali, Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department, attended as the special guest. Hemant Tiwari, Founder President of Aastha School for the Deaf and District Convenor of Saksham Bharat–Samarth Bharat, was also prominently present.
Addressing the gathering, Lokesh Kanwadiya said that sign language is a universal language understood across countries and cultures. He described it as simple, natural and a powerful expression of global brotherhood, emphasising its importance in ensuring dignity, communication and equal opportunities for the hearing-impaired community.

The programme featured captivating cultural performances by differently-abled students, including dance presentations, painting displays and a rangoli exhibition. The creativity and confidence displayed by the students deeply moved the audience and were widely appreciated by the guests and attendees.
Representatives of Saksham Bharat–Samarth Bharat, including district convenor Hemant Tiwari, Prakash Sankhla and Arun Bhaskar Gupta, formally welcomed the chief guest by presenting a coconut. Detailed discussions were also held on improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities and strengthening efforts towards their economic empowerment.
Teachers of Aastha School, office-bearers of the institution, members, social workers and several eminent citizens were present at the event, making the programme meaningful and impactful.
