Tears rolled down Ram Pyari’s cheeks as she touched the cool marble floor of the newly-inaugurated “Vishwas” Patient Attendant Rest Shelter. For 38 hours, the 60-year-old from Chitrakoot had slept on a gunny bag outside the Central Hospital gate, waiting for her grandson’s dengue treatment.
Yesterday, she slept on a cushioned bunk under a ceiling fan.Built at a cost of ₹4.8 crore on the hospital campus, the three-storey shelter was jointly unveiled by Divisional Railway Manager Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay and Prayagraj Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani. He revealed that attendants can book beds via the Rail Madad app even before the train reaches Prayagraj Junction.First beneficiaries: 47-year-old Munni Devi from Bihar, attending her husband’s kidney dialysis, called it “Ram ji ka ashirwad”.
College student Aryan Singh, staying for his mother’s eye surgery, live-streamed the dormitory to his village WhatsApp group: “Ab ghar jaisa lag raha hai.”
