District Mineral Department intensifies action against unauthorized excavation and mineral transport following Collector’s directives

Following directives issued by Collector Jitendra Yadav, the District Mineral Department has intensified action against illegal excavation and transportation of minerals across Rajnandgaon district. Continuous enforcement drives are being carried out to curb unauthorized mining activities.
Surprise Inspections Conducted Across Multiple Areas
According to the Mining Officer, the departmental team carried out sudden inspections in various locations under Rajnandgaon tehsil, including Kunwarjholki, Thelkadih, Dhara, Mohara, Dongargarh, Bortalav, Sukuldaiahan and Ghumka villages.
During the inspection, strict action was taken against individuals found involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.
Two Hyva Trucks Seized for Illegal Transport
Action was taken against a 12-wheel Hyva truck (CG 04 MJ 6242) owned by Arun Gupta of Ahiwara, which was being driven by Anil Kumar of Pithora while transporting limestone (gravel) illegally. The vehicle was seized and handed over to Thelkadih Police Station.
Similarly, another Hyva truck (CG 07 BJ 9929) owned by Sewasingh Oberoi of Durg was found transporting murum and soil illegally. The vehicle, driven by Vicky Sahu of Chanwardhal, was also seized and handed over to police authorities.
Mazda Vehicle and JCB Also Confiscated
In another case, a Mazda vehicle (CG 08 L 3688) owned by Rajendra Janghel of Dhara and driven by Gannu Vishwakarma of Katulvahi was caught involved in illegal excavation and transportation of murum.
Additionally, a JCB machine (CG 07 NA 8565), also owned by Rajendra Janghel and operated by Ajju Yadav of Dhara, was seized for illegal excavation activities. Both vehicles were handed over to Mohara Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Legal Action Under Mining Act
Authorities confirmed that cases have been registered under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. Continuous patrolling and monitoring are being carried out to prevent illegal excavation, transportation and storage of minerals in the district.
The Mineral Department reiterated that strict enforcement drives will continue to ensure compliance with mining regulations and to protect natural resources from unauthorized exploitation.
