Rajnandgaon district has witnessed a massive transformation in the power sector over the last 25 years, with electricity consumers rising 2.5 times, agricultural connections growing eightfold, and large-scale expansion of substations, lines and smart metering.
Power infrastructure in Ambagarh Chowki has received a major boost with the installation of a new 3.15 MVA transformer at the 33/11 kV substation, enhancing capacity and ensuring better electricity supply for over 13,500 consumers and 52 villages.
Chhattisgarh Energy Secretary and Power Distribution Company Chairman Dr. Rohit Yadav reviewed electrification works in Rajnandgaon, urging officials to adopt rooftop solar and lead awareness campaigns under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The meeting also assessed smart meter rollout, RDSS projects, line loss reduction, and revenue recovery.

Under the Chief Minister’s Power Infrastructure Development Scheme, a new 3.15 MVA transformer has been energized at the 33/11 KV Manpur Substation, increasing its total capacity to 6.30 MVA. This upgrade will benefit over 4,050 electricity consumers across 32 villages, ensuring uninterrupted and high-quality power supply in the tribal-dominated region of Manpur.
Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) has energized a newly constructed 33/11 kV substation in Kanhardabri village under the Dongargarh subdivision. Built at a cost of ₹2.92 crore under the Chief Minister’s Power Infrastructure Development Scheme, the substation is expected to ensure high-quality and uninterrupted electricity supply to approximately 1,625 consumers across eight villages. The facility was inaugurated by Executive Director Shri Shirish Selat in the presence of senior engineers and project officials.
