Chhattisgarh Police will run the seven-week “Cyber Jagruti Abhiyan” from August 15 to October 2, focusing on digital security, UPI fraud, digital arrest scams, phishing, job fraud, data privacy and social media safety. In Rajnandgaon, traffic violators will be brought into the campaign through the “Selfie Ka Jurmana” initiative from August 14 to 16.

Rajnandgaon Police have uncovered a massive cyber fraud involving digital arrest intimidation and fake online share trading, resulting in losses of over ₹2 crore. Following coordinated raids in Gurugram, Sehore and Indore, four accused were arrested and a network of mule-account providers, crypto-based commission agents and technical operatives was exposed.

In a joint action under Operation Cyber Shield, the Cyber Police of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have dismantled a major inter-state gang that duped hundreds through fake matrimonial profiles. Eleven accused were arrested, and multiple digital devices, SIM cards, and fake bank accounts were seized in the two-year-long scam targeting unsuspecting marriage seekers online.

A hacker known as “NanoBaiter” has exposed Ghaziabad-based scammer Manish Kumar, accused of running a tech support fraud from his bedroom. By hacking Kumar’s webcam, the vigilante caught his panicked reaction, confirming his identity. Kumar allegedly posed as AVG support, using fake ads and remote access tools to cheat thousands of victims worldwide, many of them elderly. The sting has sparked police investigations and renewed calls for stronger cybercrime enforcement in India, where scams have siphoned off over ₹10,300 crore since 2021.

During PM Modi’s visit to Tokyo, an NRI woman’s unusual claim that “safety in Japan is only possible because of Modi ji” sparked amusement among locals and Japanese police, who were left stunned by the remark.
