Young Yaakshi Pal of Boirdih village in Rajnandgaon has moved from Severe Acute Malnutrition to the normal nutrition category through regular monitoring, nutritional counselling, supplementary food and active family participation.
Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav reviewed departmental work at the weekly time-limit meeting and directed officials to monitor Girdawari, accelerate child health and nutrition initiatives, solar panel installations, revenue case disposal and crop insurance.
A Mukhyamantri Bal Sandarbh Camp was organized at Community Health Centre Kumarda in Rajnandgaon, where 80 children from severe, highly severe and moderate categories underwent health examinations. The camp provided medical consultation, treatment, medicines and nutritional guidance with support from the Hamaar Swasth Laika Programme, AIIMS Raipur and Jan Aushadhi Kendra Chhuria.
Rajnandgaon has achieved a major milestone in the fight against malnutrition, with 299 Anganwadi centres declared completely malnutrition-free and no severely malnourished or severely underweight children reported across 1,184 centres.
Emphasising the need for social awareness and active public participation, Collector Jitendra Yadav addressed a district-level orientation workshop under the “Child Marriage Free Chhattisgarh” campaign, calling for collective efforts to eliminate child marriage and malnutrition from society.
Rajnandgaon’s Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres have made notable progress, providing free treatment and nutrient-rich care to severely malnourished children. With 484 children successfully treated in a year, coordinated efforts led by the district administration are strengthening the fight against malnutrition.
In Rajnandgaon, CEO District Panchayat Ms. Suruchi Singh directed Women & Child Development, Health, and NRLM officials to ensure no pregnant woman or malnourished child is deprived of government services. She stressed awareness campaigns, iron supplementation, and institutional deliveries while urging families to adopt nutritious diets during ongoing Poshan Maah and Healthy Woman, Empowered Family Campaign.
A central inspection team from the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution visited Rajnandgaon district to assess the implementation of PDS, fortified rice distribution, and paddy procurement operations. The team expressed satisfaction with the transparency and effectiveness of public welfare schemes in the aspirational district.
