Staff Nurse Pushpa Kande, a resident of Green City and an employee of the District Hospital, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of November 24. Community members, colleagues, and public representatives gathered to pay their last respects during her funeral procession on Tuesday.

The Health Department has sealed the gynecology operation theatre of Shukla Multi-Speciality Hospital in Rajnandgaon until further orders following the death of a female patient during treatment. The deceased, identified as Mrs. Daupadi Sahu from Rivagahan village in Balod district, had undergone a hysterectomy at the hospital last month. A five-member inquiry committee has been formed to investigate allegations of medical negligence.

A 46-year-old woman, Draupadi Sahu, from Reewanghan, died allegedly due to medical negligence at Shukla Multi-Speciality Hospital in Rajnandgaon, sparking chaos and protests. Congress youth leader Nikhil Dwivedi condemned the hospital and accused the health department of shielding negligent private hospitals. A probe has been ordered into the incident.

In Rajnandgaon, CEO District Panchayat Ms. Suruchi Singh directed Women & Child Development, Health, and NRLM officials to ensure no pregnant woman or malnourished child is deprived of government services. She stressed awareness campaigns, iron supplementation, and institutional deliveries while urging families to adopt nutritious diets during ongoing Poshan Maah and Healthy Woman, Empowered Family Campaign.

A multi-departmental review meeting in Rajnandgaon assessed progress on critical schemes spanning health, forestry, women’s development, infrastructure, and education. Focus areas included Ayushman card services, water supply under Jal Jeevan Mission, electricity schemes, forestry initiatives, and innovative educational programs, with senior district officials and department heads in attendance.

The Food Safety Department in Rajnandgaon continues its proactive inspections, collecting samples from Sahu Hotel near Lalbagh police station, along with water pouches and soft drinks, to ensure the quality of consumables in peak summer season.
