The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is witnessing rapid progress in Rajnandgaon district, with more than 7,800 applications received so far. Backed by subsidies of up to ₹1.08 lakh from the Centre and State governments, the scheme is enabling households to adopt rooftop solar, reduce electricity bills, and move towards energy self-reliance.

Janpad Panchayat Rajnandgaon President Pratima Chandrakar has installed a 3 kW solar panel at her residence under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, receiving ₹1.08 lakh in Central and State subsidies, with her electricity bill now reduced to zero.

The Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is steadily gaining popularity in Rajnandgaon district as households adopt rooftop solar power to cut electricity bills and promote clean energy. Beneficiaries say the scheme is a significant step towards power self-reliance and environmental conservation.

Energy Secretary and Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, Dr. Rohit Yadav, reviewed departmental works with field officers during his district visit. He directed officials to promote rooftop solar installation under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, highlighting its role in providing pollution-free, free, and continuous electricity. The meeting also reviewed progress on smart meter installation, feeder separation, transformer maintenance, and various state and central power schemes.

The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company has launched an extensive awareness campaign across Mohla, Chhuria, Dongargaon, Rajnandgaon, Khairagarh, and Dongargarh under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The initiative aims to promote rooftop solar installations by providing on-the-spot registration and guidance on the online application process. Over 6,500 applications have already been received, with many beneficiaries now enjoying free, uninterrupted, and eco-friendly power.
