Three Arrested for Assaulting Guard and Supervisor at Medical College Hospital

In a decisive move to maintain discipline in sensitive public spaces, Lalbagh Police have arrested three private ambulance operators for abusing and assaulting security personnel at the Medical College Hospital premises. The swift police action has sent a strong message to those attempting to create disorder in hospital campuses.
According to information received, the incident occurred on 11 December 2025 at the Government Medical College Hospital, Rajnandgaon. A private security guard deployed at the hospital lodged a complaint at Lalbagh Police Station stating that a private ambulance operator, Vinay Meshram alias Pappu, had parked his ambulance inside the hospital premises without authorization. When the security guard objected, the accused, along with his associates, allegedly abused him verbally and assaulted him. The hospital supervisor was also subjected to misbehavior during the incident.
Based on the complaint, Lalbagh Police registered a case against the accused under Sections 296, 115(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the action was carried out under the directions of Superintendent of Police Ms. Ankita Sharma, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma and City Superintendent of Police (IPS) Vaishali Jain. The operation was led by Lalbagh Police Station In-charge Inspector Rajesh Kumar Sahu.

During the investigation, the police found sufficient evidence and arrested the following accused:
- Vinay Meshram alias Pappu (40)
- Sahil Bansod (20)
- Hemraj Chauhan alias Bhakku (42)
All three are residents of Ward No. 43, Jaldhara Chowk, Basantpur Police Station area, Rajnandgaon district. Subsequently, after receiving information that the accused were threatening witnesses again, police also booked them under preventive sections and produced them before the court, from where they were sent to jail.
The entire operation was executed with notable contributions from Inspector Rajesh Kumar Sahu, Head Constable Prabhat Tiwari, Constable Roshan Sinha, Constable Burma Prasad, and Constable Rakesh Dhurve.
Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma stated that strict action will continue against anyone indulging in violence, indiscipline, or unlawful activities in sensitive areas such as hospitals. “No one will be allowed to disrupt public services or threaten the safety of staff and patients,” she emphasized.
