The Poshan Pakhwada 2025 is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across Rajnandgaon district, bringing smiles and awareness to communities through interactive events focused on nutrition. A heartwarming example was witnessed at the Anganwadi center in Kaurinbhatha, where children’s faces lit up with joy during a special program organized to promote healthy eating habits.
The event featured delightful children’s songs, sung by the little ones themselves, and a beautiful rangoli made from grains and pulses to symbolize the value of nutritious food. Children, along with their parents, were educated about the importance of a balanced diet, especially during the critical first 1,000 days of a child’s life — from pregnancy through age two.
Under the fortnight-long campaign, which runs from April 8 to April 22, families are being encouraged to include green leafy vegetables like drumstick leaves, red spinach, amaranth, and spinach, as well as protein-rich pulses such as moong, chana, matar, arhar, and masoor dals in their meals.
Also highlighted were traditional Chhattisgarhi dishes like thethri, khurmi, laddoos made of ragi, roasted gram, jaggery, and gujiya, all of which contribute to a child’s nutritional well-being.
The event also addressed issues such as childhood obesity, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and use of the Nutrition Tracker to monitor growth and development.
Present on the occasion were Anganwadi workers Mrs. Tara Sahu and Mrs. Gayatri Sonwani, along with a large number of enthusiastic children and their parents, making the day a true celebration of health, learning, and happiness.
