A startling incident of high-tech cheating disrupted the Public Works Department (PWD) Sub-Engineer recruitment exam at Ramdulare School in Bilaspur’s Sarkanda area, Chhattisgarh, on Sunday. A woman, allegedly clad in a burqa, was caught using sophisticated electronic devices, including a tablet and walkie-talkie, to assist another candidate inside the exam hall, sparking outrage and prompting a swift police investigation.

The incident came to light when local passersby noticed suspicious activity outside the exam center. A woman stationed in an auto-rickshaw near the venue was seen communicating via a tablet and walkie-talkie. Alerted by the unusual behavior, members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) confronted her. Despite her attempts to deflect questions and reportedly stop the communication, a search revealed the hi-tech gadgets, exposing a well-orchestrated cheating scheme.
A video of the confrontation, which has since gone viral, captured a heated exchange. The man filming accused the woman of aiding unfair practices, stating, “My relatives are giving the exam fairly, and you’re helping your people cheat!” The woman, refusing to disclose her identity, pleaded, “Please stop the camera, brother,” and claimed she had ceased assisting the candidate inside.

However, the NSUI members promptly informed the authorities, leading to police intervention. Police seized the electronic devices, including a tablet and walkie-talkie, and have launched a formal investigation to uncover the extent of the cheating racket. Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings are underway, with a focus on ensuring accountability and maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
“We are examining the matter in depth, and anyone found guilty will face strict action,” a senior official stated. The incident has raised serious concerns about the security of competitive exams in Chhattisgarh, with calls for stricter monitoring and advanced anti-cheating measures to prevent such malpractices in the future.
