In a major revelation ahead of its much-hyped trailer launch, Ranveer Singh’s upcoming espionage action thriller Dhurandhar is expected to boast a marathon runtime of over three hours, clocking in at approximately 3 hours and 5 minutes – making it the actor’s lengthiest cinematic venture to date.

The news, dropped by industry insiders to Bollywood Hungama, underscores director Aditya Dhar’s commitment to an expansive narrative that refuses to compromise on depth for pace. With the film’s teaser already setting pulses racing, this extended runtime positions Dhurandhar as a bold, immersive experience in an era of quick-cut blockbusters.

Why the Epic Length? A Story Too Vast to RushA source close to the production revealed:
“Dhurandhar has a vast and expansive storyline. The focus is on Ranveer Singh’s character and what he goes through, while there are also other actors who have a crucial part. Director Aditya Dhar is clear that he doesn’t want to rush through the narrative and at the same time, ensure that every scene engages and excites the audience.

”The final cut is still being finalized by the creative team, including Aditya Dhar, Jio Studios, and B62 Studios, with a lock expected in the next 10 days. If it sticks, this will eclipse Ranveer’s previous record-holder, Dil Dhadakne Do (2015) at 2 hours 51 minutes, followed closely by Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) at 2 hours 48 minutes.

Inspired by real-life cross-border intelligence operations, Dhurandhar blends gritty underworld intrigue with patriotic fervor, featuring high-stakes action, Shakespearean betrayals, and tradecraft espionage. The film’s soundtrack, teased earlier with vocals by Jasmine Sandlas and a rap segment by Hanumankind, promises to amplify the adrenaline.

Star Power on Full Display: The Ensemble CastRanveer Singh leads as the indomitable protagonist, supported by a powerhouse lineup: Sanjay Dutt in a menacing antagonistic role
Akshaye Khanna as the apex predator foe
R. Madhavan portraying Ajit Doval
Arjun Rampal adding gravitas to the thriller
Sara Arjun as the female lead

The multi-starrer, produced under Jio Studios and B62 Studios, was officially announced in July 2024, with the title reveal in December 2024. Shooting wrapped in October 2025 after stints in Mumbai, Thailand (standing in for Pakistan sequences), and Ladakh – though not without hiccups like a brief halt due to food poisoning.

Trailer Buzz and Release Roadmap

The trailer, originally slated for November 12, was postponed following the Delhi Red Fort blast on November 10 and is now set to drop on November 18. Expect the full cast (minus Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna) to attend a grand launch event. Dhurandhar is eyeing a theatrical release on December 5, 2025, positioning it as a festive season heavyweight.

This follows the trend of lengthy epics like Pushpa 2 and Animal (both over 3 hours 20 minutes), which raked in massive box-office hauls despite their durations. Trade pundits predict Dhurandhar could follow suit, banking on Ranveer’s energy and Aditya Dhar’s track record with Uri: The Surgical Strike.

Ranveer Singh, fresh off Rocky Aur Rani, seems primed for a career-defining turn. As one insider quipped: “This isn’t just a film; it’s a saga. Buckle up for the long haul – it’s going to be explosive.”With the clock ticking to tomorrow’s trailer, Dhurandhar is already shaping up as Ranveer Singh’s magnum opus. Will the runtime pay off in riveting storytelling, or test audience patience? December 5 can’t come soon enough.
