Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Santosh Agrawal formally assumed charge as the MLA Representative of former Chief Minister and current Assembly Speaker Raman Singh at the Speaker House in Rajnandgaon on Tuesday. Party leaders and supporters present on the occasion congratulated him and marked the moment by offering sweets.
Agrawal began his tenure with traditional rituals, performing पूजा and prayers in his office before commencing official responsibilities. According to information shared by the party’s media cell, he has remained actively associated with the BJP organization for many years and has played significant roles in various organizational assignments. He previously served as election in-charge and camp office coordinator during Dr Raman Singh’s tenure as Chief Minister.
Recognizing his administrative experience and organizational background, Dr Raman Singh has appointed Agrawal as his representative for coordination across government departments. Agrawal will now be available daily at the camp office, located adjacent to the Speaker House, to address public grievances and facilitate communication between citizens and administrative authorities.

Political observers note that the role of an MLA representative in Rajnandgaon carries substantial importance. The position is not merely ceremonial but involves handling public issues, coordinating with officials, and acting as a direct link between the elected representative and the people. Given that Dr Raman Singh served three consecutive terms as Chief Minister for 15 years and currently holds the constitutional post of Assembly Speaker, the responsibility entrusted to his representative is considered highly significant and based on strong political trust.
The importance of the role is further underscored by the fact that senior leaders such as late Leelaram Bhawani, former minister from the undivided Madhya Pradesh era and former BJP state treasurer in Chhattisgarh, had also previously held this responsibility.
Among those present to congratulate Agrawal at the Speaker House were senior BJP leader Khoobchand Parakh, District BJP President Komal Singh Rajput, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, Bank Chairman Sachin Baghel, along with several party leaders and workers including Ramesh Patel, Rajendra Golcha, Saurabh Kothari, Rajesh Shyamkar, Harish Sharma, Sawan Verma, Shiv Verma, Raghuveer Wadhwa, Hakim Khan, Deepak Chauhan, Arun Shukla, Dinesh Gupta, Sanjay Ladwan, and Uttam Sahu.
