Helmet use made mandatory for government employees; directions issued to improve accident-prone spots

Rajnandgaon Collector Shri Jitendra Yadav chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Collectorate conference hall on Tuesday and issued important directions aimed at reducing road accidents and enhancing public safety.
The Collector instructed officials to identify accident-prone locations on national highways, state highways, and other roads and ensure immediate corrective measures. He directed that safety interventions such as speed breakers, traffic signboards, and high-mast lighting be installed at vulnerable locations to minimise accidents.
Emphasising personal responsibility, the Collector said that road safety begins with individual caution. He urged citizens to strictly follow traffic rules and take necessary precautions while driving to safeguard their lives.
Mandatory Helmet and Seat Belt Use
The Collector made it clear that all government employees must compulsorily wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and use seat belts while driving cars. He instructed the traffic police to take challan action against violators of traffic rules without exception.
Urban Lighting and Accident Prevention
Reviewing accident-prone areas, the Collector directed the Municipal Corporation to ensure adequate lighting in dark and poorly lit locations, particularly within urban areas, to improve visibility and reduce the risk of accidents.
He also called for awareness measures to protect citizens from cyber fraud, stressing the importance of caution and public awareness in the digital space.

Police Briefing on Black Spots
Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Pushpendra Nayak briefed the meeting on identified accident-prone zones across national highways, state roads, and other routes. He highlighted locations such as Chikhli Flyover, Gathula Nala, Ambedkar Chowk, Rengakathera, Bundelikala, and Maa Banjari Mandir Chowk as major accident black spots requiring urgent attention.
