The General Assembly meeting of the District Panchayat was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of District Panchayat President Smt. Kiran Vaishnav in the District Panchayat Hall.
During the meeting, farmers raised the need for crop diversification, emphasizing the cultivation of pulses, oilseeds, maize, and other less water-intensive crops in place of summer paddy. Officials informed members about the special campaign to make Rajnandgaon a “summer paddy-free procurement district”, encouraging farmers to adopt crop rotation practices.

The assembly also discussed the allocation of fair price shops, while progress reports from various departments including Education, Minerals, Power, Health, Agriculture, Forests, and PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) were reviewed in detail.
