Ahead of New Year 2026, Rajnandgaon Police have gone into full alert mode to ensure that celebrations remain peaceful, safe and orderly. Under the direct supervision of Superintendent of Police Ms. Ankita Sharma, a robust, well-coordinated and high-tech security arrangement has been implemented across the district.
Police authorities have made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for lawbreakers and full cooperation for law-abiding citizens. Keeping the festive rush in mind, the entire district has been divided into multiple sectors, each supervised by gazetted officers to ensure effective monitoring and swift action.
A total of nine gazetted officers, 20 inspectors and around 600 police personnel have been deployed district-wide as part of the security plan.
Special Surveillance at Hotels, Dhabas and Public Places
Special teams led by Deputy Superintendents of Police have been formed to monitor hotels, dhabas and crowded public places. Strict action will be taken against illegal liquor consumption, unruly behaviour and anti-social activities. Sensitive zones, tourist destinations and major intersections are being monitored round-the-clock using drones and advanced surveillance technology.
Tight Vigil Through Checkpoints and Mobile Check Posts
Intensive checking drives are underway at all major entry and exit points of the district. In the Mangta area, a 24-hour Mobile Check Post (MCP) has been established for December 30, 31 and January 1 to maintain heightened vigilance.

Preventive Action Against Known Offenders
In view of the New Year celebrations, continuous preventive action is being taken against identified goons, history-sheeters and habitual offenders. Their movements are under close watch to prevent any untoward incidents.
Strong Focus on Road Safety
To curb road accidents, a special traffic team of 60 police personnel has been deployed. Strict action will be taken against drunken driving, vehicles with black films and other traffic violations. Accident-prone black spots have been identified, and awareness campaigns are also being conducted.
Full Preparedness for Emergencies
To effectively deal with emergencies, 50 police personnel have been trained in CPR and first aid in coordination with the district hospital. The Superintendent of Police’s office has provided 25 first-aid kits to police vehicles and patrolling teams. Ambulance services have been deployed, and additional vehicles have been allotted to police stations. Foot patrols, bike patrols and vehicle patrolling will continue round the clock.
Extra Security at Tourist and Religious Sites
Considering the surge of visitors and devotees on January 1, additional police forces have been deployed at tourist spots, temples, dams, picnic spots and other public places. Hotel, dhaba and restaurant operators have been instructed to keep CCTV cameras functional, immediately report suspicious activities and prevent misuse of their premises. Car rental services have also been directed to ensure proper verification before renting vehicles.
An additional police assistance centre is being set up at the Dongargarh temple परिसर on the occasion of New Year.
Helpline Numbers Issued
For any information or emergency during New Year celebrations, a special helpline number 9479246435 has been issued. Citizens can also contact the police control room at 9479192199.
Rajnandgaon Police have appealed to the public to cooperate in making New Year celebrations safe and enjoyable, and to immediately inform authorities about any suspicious activity.
