Four arrested from Nagpur; stolen gold, silver, cash worth ₹2.5 lakh recovered

In a joint operation, Basantpur Police Station and the Cyber Cell, Rajnandgaon, successfully exposed an inter-state burglary gang and arrested four accused from Nagpur, Maharashtra. The accused were involved in multiple house break-in cases in Rajnandgaon. Police recovered gold and silver ornaments, cash, three mobile phones, and two motorcycles used in the commission of crimes. The total value of the seized property is estimated at around ₹2.50 lakh.
Two Separate Theft Cases Solved
According to police, special teams were formed following the registration of Crime No. 593/2025 and Crime No. 04/2026 at Basantpur Police Station, both related to thefts in locked houses.
In the first case, the complainant reported that between December 12 and 13, 2025, unknown persons broke into a locked house and stole ₹50,000 in cash, gold earrings, and silver anklets and toe rings.
In the second case, during the intervening night of December 30, 2025, the accused allegedly entered a house by breaking a window grill and made away with cash and a large quantity of silver religious utensils.
CCTV Footage and Cyber Analysis Key to Breakthrough
The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ms Ankita Sharma, City Superintendent of Police Ms Vaishali Jain (IPS), and Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Pushpendra Nayak.
Under the leadership of Basantpur Station House Officer Inspector Aman Sahu and Cyber Cell In-Charge Inspector Vinay Kumar Pammar, multiple teams were deployed. CCTV footage from Rajnandgaon city, Durg–Bhilai, and the Nagpur route, along with cyber and technical analysis, played a crucial role in tracing the suspects.
Based on technical inputs, the police team reached Nagpur, where the suspects were surrounded and taken into custody.

Accused Confess to Crimes
During interrogation, all four accused confessed to their involvement in both theft cases. Following due legal procedure, they were formally arrested on January 6, 2026, and produced before the court, which remanded them to District Jail, Rajnandgaon.

- Akash Yadav alias Abu Bakar (32) – Resident of South Dinajpur, West Bengal
- Rasal Sheikh (22) – Resident of South Dinajpur, West Bengal
- Ajay Jain (40) – Resident of Club Chowk, Basantpur, Rajnandgaon
- Rajesh Nishad (35) – Resident of Shikarimahka village, Chhuriya Police Station, Rajnandgaon
Recovered Property:
- Cash: ₹14,500
- One pair of gold earrings
- Silver lamps, plates, kalash, anklets, and toe rings
- CD Deluxe motorcycle (CG 22 M 5494)
- Pulsar motorcycle (MH 31 DX 3334)
- Three Android mobile phones
Total Estimated Value: ₹2,50,000
Habitual Offenders with Criminal History
Police records reveal that the arrested accused have a long criminal history, with multiple cases registered against them under theft, Arms Act, and other offences in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

The operation saw commendable contributions from Inspector Aman Sahu, Inspector Vinay Kumar Pammar, Sub-Inspectors Naresh Banjare and Naresh Sarva, ASI Govardhan Deshmukh, Head Constable Basant Rao, and Constables Parivesh Verma, Harish Thakur, Puneshwar Sahu, Dheeraj Dadseena, Jeevan Thakur, Praveen Meshram, Kush Baghel, and Ashish Manikpuri, along with staff from Basantpur Police Station and the Cyber Cell.
