Proposal to install a life-size statue and rename the bus terminal to be forwarded to the Chhattisgarh Government

Rajnandgaon Mayor Madhusudan Yadav has announced that a proposal will be sent to the Chhattisgarh Government to rename the city’s New Bus Stand after Pandit Syama Prasad Mookerjee and install a life-size statue of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder at the site.
The announcement was made during a seminar and tribute meeting organized at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district office on the birth anniversary of Pandit Syama Prasad Mookerjee, remembered as the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, an eminent educationist, and a prominent nationalist thinker.
Mayor assures government proposal
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav said he had taken serious note of the proposal put forward by BJP District President Komal Singh Rajput. He announced that the Municipal Corporation would forward a formal proposal to the state government seeking approval for renaming the New Bus Stand in honour of Pandit Syama Prasad Mookerjee and installing his grand life-size statue.

The Mayor added that the proposal would also be placed before Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh to seek their guidance and support for its implementation.
Tribute to a nationalist leader
Mayor Yadav described Pandit Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s life as an enduring example of patriotism, sacrifice, national unity, and commitment to the idea of an integrated India.
He said naming one of Rajnandgaon’s most important public landmarks after the nationalist leader would be a matter of pride for the city and would inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to nation-building and public service.
BJP leaders support the proposal
Speaking on the occasion, BJP District President Komal Singh Rajput said the New Bus Stand serves thousands of commuters and travellers every day, making it one of the city’s most prominent public spaces.
He said naming the facility after Pandit Syama Prasad Mookerjee would help spread awareness about his nationalist ideals while honouring the sentiments of the people of Rajnandgaon.
Party office-bearers and workers present at the seminar welcomed the Mayor’s announcement and expressed confidence that the proposal would receive support from the state government and soon become a reality.
