Political reactions continue following the presentation of the Chhattisgarh State Budget. Reacting strongly to the budget, former councillor and senior Congress leader Rajesh Kumar alias Champu Gupta stated that Rajnandgaon district has once again been completely neglected in the state’s financial planning.
He alleged that while the state government made tall claims regarding development, no concrete new projects or major development initiatives have been announced for Rajnandgaon district. According to him, the people of the district have long been demanding the establishment of a divisional headquarters, employment generation at the local level, promotion of industries, relief packages for traders, and completion of pending urban development works, but the budget lacks any clear provisions addressing these issues.

Champu further said that local businesses have been adversely affected after the construction of the flyover in the city, and small traders are in urgent need of economic relief. However, no special scheme has been introduced for them in the budget. He also emphasized the need for creating new employment opportunities for youth and restarting the unemployment allowance scheme.
He added that Rajnandgaon, known as the cultural capital (“Sanskaradhani”), holds historical, educational, and industrial importance, yet continued neglect in the budget reflects injustice toward the aspirations of the district’s residents.
In conclusion, Champu demanded that the state government announce a special development package and district-specific projects in the supplementary budget to accelerate the overall development of Rajnandgaon.
