City Congress Committee Holds Symposium in Rajnandgaon to Honor the Legacy of India’s First Prime Minister

Marking the 61st death anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the City District Congress Committee, led by President Kulbir Singh Chhabra, held a memorial symposium at the Congress Bhawan on Tuesday. Nehru, widely regarded as the architect of modern India and the visionary behind the Planning Commission, public sector undertakings, and institutions like IITs and ITMs, was honored for his historic role in shaping post-independence India.
City Congress General Secretary Amit Chandravanshi informed that party members garlanded Nehru’s portrait and offered floral tributes before reflecting on his life and achievements during the symposium.
Former member of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Shrikishan Khandelwal, spoke about Nehru’s vast contributions to national development. He emphasized Nehru’s foresight in ushering in the Green Revolution, White Revolution, and the formulation of India’s industrial policies. Khandelwal also highlighted milestones like the Bhakra Nangal Dam, five-year plans, and the 1956 Industrial Policy Resolution as testaments to Nehru’s progressive governance.

Nehru’s initiative in establishing the Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh was noted as a significant step in industrializing the region and generating employment for thousands. His legacy as the longest-serving Prime Minister continues to inspire the nation’s development journey.
Several senior Congress leaders and members attended the event, including Ramesh Dalkalia, Kamaljeet Singh Pintu, City Congress Vice President Vikas Tripathi, General Secretary Jhamman Dewangan, South Block President Suryakant Jain, Seva Dal President Amit Khandelwal, Hemu Soni, Bablu Kasar, Manish Simankar, Mamaraj Agrawal, Chetan Sinha, Sandeep Soni, and Sagar Tamrakar.
