The Rajnandgaon Police have issued a clarification and correction after an error was identified in a social media post related to an absconding accused under the Excise Act. The police acknowledged that an incorrect photograph had been used and confirmed that the individual shown in the earlier post had no connection with the alleged crime.
According to information provided, a news update regarding an absconding accused in Crime No. 495/2025 registered under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act was shared on Instagram by the police administration. However, the post mistakenly carried the photograph of Deepak Tejwani, son of Kamlesh Tejwani, aged 26, a resident of Ward No. 20 in Rajnandgaon, who was not involved in the case.
The error came to light after Mayur Tejwani, brother of Deepak Tejwani, approached the police administration and informed them about the mistake. Upon verification, authorities found that the absconding accused named Deepak in the case was a different individual and not Deepak Tejwani.

Taking cognizance of the mistake, the police administration issued a revised statement clarifying that Deepak Tejwani had no role in the excise offence and requested the public to consider only the updated and corrected information as authentic. The earlier post has been corrected accordingly.
The clarification was also shared through a press note by Mayur Tejwani, who confirmed that the police had rectified the error after being informed.
Officials emphasized the importance of verifying identities in such cases and urged the public not to rely on outdated or incorrect information circulating on social media.
