The impact of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is increasingly visible in Rajnandgaon district, with steady progress reported in applications, installations, and subsidy distribution. The flagship scheme, jointly supported by the central and state governments, provides subsidies of up to ₹1.08 lakh to households for installing rooftop solar systems, making clean energy more affordable and accessible to the public.

According to official data, a total of 8,228 applications have been received in the district so far. Out of these, vendor selection has been completed for 3,518 beneficiaries. Rooftop solar panels have already been installed in 1,340 homes, while subsidy payments have been disbursed to 875 consumers. During the current week alone, 181 new applications were submitted and 96 installations were completed, indicating growing public participation and awareness about the scheme.

Officials noted that the benefits of the initiative are now clearly reflected in household electricity bills. A large number of consumers have reported substantial reductions in their monthly power expenses, with some households receiving zero or even negative bills. Beneficiaries generating surplus solar energy are also supplying power back to the grid, enabling them to earn additional income.

The scheme is not only providing financial relief to families but also promoting energy self-reliance and environmental sustainability. By encouraging the adoption of renewable energy, it is contributing significantly to clean energy goals and reducing dependence on conventional electricity sources.

The district administration stated that it is continuously working to ensure transparent implementation, quality installations in accordance with standards, timely subsidy distribution, and ongoing guidance for consumers. Authorities have appealed to eligible residents to take advantage of the scheme and empower their homes with clean, affordable, and self-reliant energy solutions.
