Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 22nd instalment of financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) on March 13 during a national event in Guwahati, Assam.

Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the Prime Minister will transfer ₹18,650 crore to nearly 9.32 crore farmers across India. Out of this, ₹498.83 crore will be credited to the bank accounts of more than 24.71 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh.

According to officials from the state’s Agriculture Department, the beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh include 2.92 lakh forest rights patta holders and about 37,400 farmers belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

Farmers to Join Programme via Video Conference

The national programme will also be connected to Chhattisgarh through video conferencing. Farmers and public representatives from across the state will participate in the event from the Swami Vivekananda Agriculture College Jora Raipur in Raipur.

As part of the PM-Kisan Utsav, farmer meetings will be organised in several gram panchayats, and the Prime Minister’s address will be broadcast live so that farmers can directly witness the programme.

Over ₹11,283 Crore Already Transferred to Chhattisgarh Farmers

Officials said the PM-Kisan scheme was launched by the Prime Minister in December 2018, with the first instalment released in February 2019.

Since the launch of the scheme, farmers in Chhattisgarh have received more than ₹11,283.09 crore in financial assistance, benefiting lakhs of farming families across the state.

Support for Tribal and Forest Land Farmers

The scheme has also been extended to forest rights patta holders and farmers belonging to PVTG communities in Chhattisgarh. To ensure that these communities receive benefits, the requirement of agricultural land ownership has been relaxed in certain cases.

Under the scheme, both individual and joint landholding farmer families whose names are recorded in land records are eligible for benefits.

Financial Support for Farmers

The PM-Kisan scheme is a 100 percent centrally funded programme aimed at providing financial support to farming families across the country.

Eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually, paid in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each every four months, which are transferred directly to their bank accounts through DBT.

Officials said the initiative has played a key role in supporting farmers’ income and helping them manage agricultural expenses throughout the year.
