Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma conducted an early morning inspection across several major roads in Rajnandgaon to review sanitation arrangements and ensure compliance with cleanliness standards. During the visit, he issued instructions to sanitation staff and health officials to intensify cleaning efforts, take action against banned plastic usage, and strengthen enforcement under municipal regulations related to waste management and public hygiene.
The Commissioner inspected Sahdev Nagar Road, Manav Mandir Chowk, Post Office Chowk, and Railway Station Road, among other locations. Near Baba Fateh Singh Hall, he noticed disposable plates and waste scattered on the road following a wedding function and directed officials to issue a notice to the concerned organisers and initiate appropriate action.

During the inspection of R.K. Nagar and Sahdev Nagar Road areas, Vishwakarma interacted with sanitation workers and instructed them to ensure deep cleaning of drains and proper removal of accumulated waste through designated supervisors. At Manav Mandir Chowk, he ordered cleaning to be completed before shops open in the morning and directed the removal of fruit vendors causing obstruction to traffic movement. Ward officials were also instructed to counsel individuals encroaching on public spaces or storing materials on roadsides, with strict action to follow in case of non-compliance.
Keeping the upcoming cleanliness survey in mind, the Commissioner emphasised the need to engage citizens in maintaining hygiene around their homes and neighbourhoods and directed staff to collect public feedback. He also instructed the electricity department to revise the timing of streetlight shutdown on R.K. Nagar Road to 6:00 am.
In addition, he asked officials to ensure that operators of marriage halls, including Fateh Singh Hall and other community venues, maintain proper sanitation and prevent littering on roads during processions and events. Failure to comply, he warned, would invite penalties.

At Post Office Chowk and Railway Station Road, Vishwakarma reviewed sanitation conditions and directed the removal of parked decorative structures under the flyover that were causing unhygienic conditions. Noticing unnecessary water flow near the railway station square, he ordered the water connection to be disconnected immediately. He also instructed repairs of potholes near Arihant Auto Parts and removal of construction materials protruding from electric poles installed under the Railway Station Road beautification project.
The Commissioner stressed that beautification work should not inconvenience commuters and passengers travelling to and from the railway station, and all construction materials should be cleared promptly to ensure smooth movement and public safety.
