The operation was conducted under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore and City Superintendent of Police Vaishali Jain. The action was led on the ground by Station House Officer Inspector Dhal Singh Sahu.

Tip-Off Leads to Interception

Police officials said that on February 20, 2026, they received confidential information that a suspect identified as Mukesh Verma, a resident of Kohka in Bhilai under Durg district, was transporting illegal cannabis from Bharregaon towards Surgi on a scooter. Acting swiftly, officers set up a Mobile Check Post (MCP) outside the Surgi police outpost and began checking suspicious vehicles.

During inspection, a Honda Activa 3G scooter bearing registration number CG07AZ 3065 was stopped. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered a yellow-green plastic sack containing ganja hidden inside the scooter’s storage compartment.
