Interstate smuggling network busted in two separate operations; vehicles worth ₹18 lakh confiscated

In a major crackdown against illegal liquor trafficking, the police in Rajnandgaon district seized 29 cases (260.8 bulk litres) of Madhya Pradesh-manufactured foreign liquor in two separate operations and arrested six accused. Two four-wheelers used in transportation were also confiscated, with the total value of seized liquor and vehicles estimated at around ₹18 lakh.
The action was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma and the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore. The operation was supervised by City Superintendent of Police (Cyber) Alexander Kiro and SDOP Dongargarh Kesari Nandan Nayak, with joint teams from the Cyber Cell, Bagnadi Police Station, and Dongargarh Police Station participating.

25 Cases of Liquor Recovered from Car in Bagnadi
A joint team of the Cyber Cell and Bagnadi Police intercepted a white Hyundai i20 (CG 04 PV 8379) near Bagnadi Chowk during vehicle checking. Upon searching the car, officers recovered 228 bulk litres (25 cases) of liquor worth approximately ₹2,82,630.
The seized consignment included brands such as McDowell’s No.1, Royal Stag, Blender’s Pride, Black & White, Goa-made foreign liquor, and beer cartons.
Two accused, identified as Toshon Thakur (30) and Anurag Singh Rajput (32), both residents of Raipur, were arrested in connection with the case.
4 Cases Seized from Scorpio in Dongargarh
In another operation, Dongargarh Police intercepted a black Scorpio (CG 08 BA 8996) on the Devkatta–Khairagarh main road and recovered 32.04 bulk litres (4 cases) of liquor valued at around ₹19,980.

Four accused — Prahlad Nirmalkar (22), Nohar Verma (24), Lakesh Kanwar (21), and Damendra Kumar Sahu (19) — were arrested in this case.
Legal Action and Further Investigation
Police have registered offences against all accused under Sections 34(2) and 36 of the Excise Act along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials stated that efforts are underway to identify other members of the interstate smuggling network, and further action is expected soon.
Police authorities reiterated that the campaign against illegal liquor sale and transportation will continue with strict enforcement measures across the district.
