Special Exhibition to Showcase Rare Historical Records

The Culture Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh will organize a special exhibition and lecture programme in the state capital as part of the observance of International Archives Week from June 8 to 12, 2026.

The event will be held at the Art Gallery of Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum, where citizens, researchers, students and history enthusiasts will have the opportunity to closely examine historical archival records and documents.

The exhibition will feature photographic reproductions of important historical documents related to governance, policy and administrative systems. Through these records, visitors will gain valuable insights into the administrative, social and cultural history of both Chhattisgarh and India.

The exhibition will remain open to the public daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Special Lecture on Preserving History and Collective Memory

As part of International Archives Week, a special lecture programme will be organized on June 9, 2026 on the theme:

“Archives for Justice, Rights, Memory and the Future.”

The lecture will focus on the significance of archives, their preservation and their role in democratic governance.

Experts from the archival field, including Deepak from the National Archives of India, New Delhi, and Satyanarayan Mishra from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, will share their insights during the session.

Promoting Awareness About Heritage Conservation

The programme is being organized by the Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museums, Raipur. Citizens from all sections of society have been invited to participate in the event.

Officials stated that the primary objective of the programme is to increase public awareness about the preservation of historical heritage and to highlight the significance of archives among a wider audience.

Visitors can attend the exhibition at the Art Gallery, Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum, Raipur, between June 8 and June 12, 2026, and explore a unique collection of historical records that document the region’s rich administrative and cultural legacy.
