Foundation Day of Nine States Celebrated Under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ Programme in Raipur

“The soul of India lies in its diversity, and that is our greatest strength,” said Governor Ramen Deka while addressing the Foundation Day celebrations of nine states at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The event was held under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen national integration through cultural exchange.

The states celebrated on this occasion were Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Goa, Telangana, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh. Speaking at the event, Governor Deka emphasized that this initiative is not merely a cultural exchange but a powerful medium for emotional integration.
Highlighting the uniqueness of each state, the Governor described Bihar as the land of knowledge, Gujarat as a hub of trade and industry, Maharashtra as a symbol of valor and saints, and West Bengal as a center of literature and science. He hailed Goa as the tourism capital, Telangana as a hub of technological progress, Mizoram and Sikkim as the pride of the Northeast, and Himachal Pradesh as the land of gods and natural beauty.

Governor Deka called upon the youth to actively participate in this campaign, understand the culture of other states, and contribute to nation-building. “India’s unity and integrity inspire us to become a self-reliant and strong nation,” he said while extending greetings to all states on their Foundation Day.
The celebration featured cultural presentations by students from various universities, showcasing folk dances such as West Bengal’s Ghinchi, Gujarat’s Garba, Maharashtra’s Lavani, along with vibrant performances from Bihar, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Telangana, and Mizoram. Children of Vanvasi Ashram also presented a melodious group song.

Representatives from each state, including Belinda Riang from Mizoram, Nimesh Kumar Jha from Bihar, Rajesh Chauhan from Gujarat, Ajay Madhukar Kale from Maharashtra, Savio D’Costa from Goa, Gurijala Usha from Telangana, Diptesh Chatterjee from West Bengal, and Pawan Singh from Himachal Pradesh, shared insights about their traditions and cultural heritage, expressing that they feel at home in Chhattisgarh.
Governor Deka felicitated the representatives with state shawls and mementos, while the guests also presented souvenirs from their respective states. The programme was attended by MLA Purandar Mishra, Raipur Mayor Meenal Chaubey, Governor’s Secretary Dr. C. R. Prasanna, along with a large gathering of officials, youth, women, and citizens.
