In a moment that will be etched forever in Indian sporting folklore, the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team has clinched the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 with an unbeaten run, defeating their opponents in every single match of the tournament. The final, played under floodlights at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday evening, saw India chase down the target with clinical precision to spark wild celebrations across the country.
Led by captain Sushma Patel, the team displayed extraordinary skill, unbreakable spirit, and flawless teamwork to outclass every challenger in the eight-nation tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. From the opening league match to the grand finale, the Women in Blue never dropped a single game – a record that stands as a testament to their dominance and preparation.

Player of the Tournament Gangotri Naik, who smashed a breathtaking century in the semi-final, was once again the architect of the victory in the final, remaining unbeaten on 78 off just 52 balls. Her opening partner, Radha Kumari, and all-rounder Phoolmati Yadav were equally instrumental throughout the campaign, earning standing ovations from a packed stadium that included cricket legends, dignitaries, and thousands of emotional fans.

Speaking after lifting the glittering trophy, an emotional captain Sushma Patel said, “This win is not just for us – it is for every girl who has been told she cannot dream big because of her disability. We hope this World Cup inspires millions to believe that no barrier is too high when you have courage and support.
”The entire squad erupted in joy as Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the team immediately after the win, congratulating them and declaring, “You have shown the world the real meaning of ‘Naari Shakti’. Your victory is a proud moment for 140 crore Indians.”BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah announced a cash reward of ₹2 crore for the team, while several state governments and corporate houses have lined up additional honors and financial support.
