In a profound confluence of spirituality, literature, and cultural reverence, the vibrant city of Indore witnessed the grand unveiling of ‘Parikrama Kripa Saar’, a poignant chronicle of devotion to the life-giving Mother Narmada. Authored by Madhya Pradesh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, the book was ceremoniously released at the opulent Brilliant Convention Centre, drawing an august assembly of dignitaries, scholars, and devotees.

The event, graced by the guiding wisdom of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat and the benevolent presence of Mahamandaleshwar Shri Shri 1008 Shri Iswaranand Giri Ji Maharaj, transcended a mere literary launch, emerging as a clarion call to rediscover inner harmony through the sacred parikrama of the revered river. The afternoon program, commencing at 3 PM on the auspicious occasion of Hindi Diwas, resonated with the timeless chant “Namami Devi Narmade,” evoking the river’s eternal grace that has nurtured Madhya Pradesh’s soul for millennia. Minister Patel, whose narrative weaves personal anecdotes from his arduous 30-year-old pilgrimage undertaken in selfless service to his spiritual mentor, described the book as a “living vignette of Maa Narmada’s parikrama.”

Penned during his non-political phase of devotion alongside his wife Pushpalata Patel, the 250-page volume captures not just the 3,300-kilometer circumambulation’s physical trials—from rugged terrains to monsoon swells—but the metaphysical odyssey of faith, resilience, and ecological stewardship. “This journey was impossible without Maa Narmada’s blessings and Gurudev’s grace,” Patel reflected, urging readers to embrace the river’s lessons in unity and compassion, far removed from any political overtures.

Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, arriving from Nagpur the previous evening for his fourth visit to Indore, delivered a soul-stirring address that elevated the gathering into a philosophical discourse. Dismissing Winston Churchill’s post-independence doomsday prophecy of India’s fragmentation, Bhagwat proclaimed, “We proved him wrong; for 3,000 years, as world leaders, we spread knowledge and civilization without conquest or strife.” He portrayed Narmada not as mere waters, but a “living presence” that flows through the human consciousness, teaching restraint amid chaos.

“The parikrama is no mere foot journey—it’s the soul’s pilgrimage, dissolving ego in her quiet constancy,” he emphasized, advocating spiritual discipline as the bedrock for national renewal. Bhagwat lauded Patel’s work for encapsulating the pilgrimage’s emotional and transcendent depths, reminding the audience that true religion harms none and fosters knowledge, action, and devotion in equilibrium.

Adding divine sanctity was the gracious presence of Mahamandaleshwar Shri Shri 1008 Shri Iswaranand Giri Ji Maharaj, a beacon of ascetic wisdom whose aura infused the hall with serenity. As a revered figure in the Juna Akhara tradition, his silent benediction symbolized the seamless blend of Sanatan Dharma’s ancient ethos with contemporary reflections on environmental consciousness and cultural preservation.

The event brimmed with luminaries, including Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, and a host of BJP stalwarts such as Govind Singh Rajput, Rakesh Singh, and Tulsi Silawat. Earlier that day, Patel had led a poignant jalabhishek ritual at Rajwada’s Devi Ahilyabai statue using waters from 108 sacred rivers, underscoring Narmada’s unbreakable bond with Indore’s Holkar legacy.

The ceremony concluded with fervent chants and pledges to safeguard the river, echoing Patel’s call: “No politics over Narmada—only pure reverence.”‘Parikrama Kripa Saar’ arrives as a timely elixir for a fragmented world, promising to rekindle faith and foster a deeper ecological bond. As Bhagwat noted, in Narmada’s gentle flow lies the secret to personal transformation and societal harmony. This launch not only immortalizes a minister’s devotional voyage but heralds a renaissance of spiritual literature, inspiring generations to tread the path of introspection and unity. Jai Maa Narmade—may her kripa guide us all.
