Focus on ensuring availability of seeds and fertilizers, transparent fishery tenders, and integrated development plans for farmers

The meeting of the District Panchayat Agriculture Standing Committee was held today at the District Panchayat hall under the chairmanship of Committee President and Panchayat Member Mrs. Jagruti Yadu. Committee members Mr. Prashant Kodape and Mr. Gopal Bhuarya were present, along with district-level officers of agriculture and allied departments.
Addressing the session, Chairperson Mrs. Jagruti Yadu emphasized that farmers should not face shortages of seeds and fertilizers. She directed officials to ensure farmers are informed about various government schemes and to extend benefits to all eligible beneficiaries.
Committee member Mr. Prashant Kodape stressed the need to make the tender process for fisheries transparent. He further suggested that departmental programs and awareness campaigns should be used to disseminate detailed information about government initiatives to farmers at the grassroots level.
During the meeting, Committee Secretary and Deputy Director of Agriculture, Mr. Tikam Singh Thakur, presented details of innovative activities being carried out to support farmers in the district. He proposed forming joint teams from agriculture and allied departments to prepare integrated plans for the growth and development of agriculture in the region.

The Deputy Director of Veterinary Services elaborated on the schemes being run for animal health and livestock development, while the Assistant Director of Fisheries shared updates on the allocation of ponds to groups for fish farming and efforts to strengthen fisher communities. Similarly, the Assistant Director of Horticulture highlighted the implementation of the National Mission on Edible Oilseeds and Oil Palm, under which farmers are being selected and assisted in oil palm cultivation.
The meeting also saw participation from representatives of the Seed Corporation, District Cooperative Central Bank, and district-level officers of horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, and related departments, ensuring a comprehensive discussion on agricultural development strategies for Rajnandgaon.
