Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Suruchi Singh chaired a review meeting on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana at the district panchayat auditorium in Rajnandgaon and directed officials to accelerate its execution in mission mode.
The meeting was attended by officials from the power distribution department, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, urban local bodies, agriculture department, bankers and empanelled vendors. During the review, the CEO emphasised the need to organise awareness campaigns, including public announcements and “Surya Sabhas,” in both urban wards and rural areas to encourage citizens to avail the benefits of the rooftop solar scheme.
She instructed that applications received during these outreach programmes should be processed promptly, with vendor selection completed quickly so that solar panel installations can begin without delay. Officials were also directed to ensure that beneficiaries submit complete and error-free documentation to facilitate timely bank loan approvals wherever required.

The CEO further stressed that all issues faced by beneficiaries must be resolved during the Surya Sabha events itself, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free process. She described the scheme as a flagship government initiative and urged departments to actively spread awareness about its financial and environmental benefits while motivating households to adopt solar energy solutions.
Vendors were instructed to complete installations within the stipulated timeline so that district targets under the scheme can be achieved at the earliest. The administration aims to deliver the benefits to eligible beneficiaries across both rural and urban areas through coordinated efforts.
Deputy Director Panchayat Devendra Kaushik, Lead Bank Manager Munish Sharma, electricity department officials, bankers and vendors were present at the meeting. Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats and Chief Municipal Officers of urban bodies joined the session via video conferencing.
