Preparations for India’s Census 2026–27 have commenced in Rajnandgaon, with a training session organized at the Town Hall of the Municipal Corporation. The session focused on the implementation of the house listing and building numbering process, which forms the foundation of the nationwide census exercise.
As per government directives, the house listing work is proposed to be conducted between April and September 2026 for a period of 30 days. In Chhattisgarh, the exercise has been scheduled from May 1 to May 30, 2026.

The training was conducted in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, where officials and employees were briefed on the systematic numbering of buildings across all wards. District Master Trainer Deepak Thakur provided detailed guidance on executing the building numbering process.
Officials were informed that the census process will begin with house listing and numbering of all structures in each ward in sequential order. Based on this data, census blocks will be determined. The work will be carried out under the supervision of ward in-charge sub-engineers in accordance with government guidelines.
