BJP councillor highlights major allocations for education, skill development, and infrastructure in Chhattisgarh Budget 2026–27

Young councillor of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Chairman of the Education Department Alok Shroti has welcomed the Budget 2026–27 presented in the state assembly by Finance Minister O. P. Choudhary, describing it as a “youth-oriented budget” that will accelerate the overall development of Chhattisgarh.
Reacting to the budget, Shroti said the financial roadmap would not only strengthen the state’s growth trajectory but also create new opportunities for young people in education, employment, and self-reliance. He emphasized that the provisions announced in the budget would directly benefit students and job aspirants, helping build their confidence and future prospects.
According to him, the budget includes significant allocations for higher education and skill development. An amount of ₹731 crore has been earmarked for state universities, which will also help enhance the capacity and expansion of the Professional Examination Board. Additionally, ₹100 crore has been allocated under the Swami Vivekananda Excellent School Scheme, while ₹50 crore has been provided for infrastructure upgrades in ITIs and polytechnic institutions.

He further noted that ₹38 crore has been proposed for the establishment of new CG IT institutions in Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Kawardha, Raigarh, Jashpur, and Jagdalpur. The budget also includes ₹33 crore assistance for CG ACE competitive examinations and ₹35 crore for 36 INC CG Innovation Centres and STPI Centres of Excellence, which are expected to promote innovation and technical expertise among youth.
Focus on Educational Infrastructure and Facilities
Shroti said the budget also prioritizes basic infrastructure in the education sector to ensure better facilities for students. Provisions include ₹25 crore for the construction of 25 college buildings and another ₹25 crore for a mega examination centre in Raipur. Additionally, ₹20 crore has been allocated for infrastructure development in IIIT institutions, and ₹15 crore has been proposed to establish Centres of Excellence in five government colleges located in Durg, Jashpur, Raipur, Balodabazar, and Raigarh.
Financial Support to Students
Highlighting student welfare initiatives, he said ₹10 crore has been allocated for the Chief Minister Education Assistance Scheme to reduce financial barriers in education. Another ₹10 crore has been earmarked for career counselling centres in Nalanda libraries across the state, while ₹5 crore has been proposed for the Chhattisgarh Yuva Darshan Scheme.
Shroti concluded that the budget demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering youth through education, skill enhancement, and employment opportunities, and expressed confidence that it would contribute significantly to building a self-reliant and progressive state.
