Hometown hero Rana Vasundhara Singh, who clinched a bronze medal at the 9th Asian Jujitsu Championship 2025 held in Amman, Jordan, was accorded a rousing welcome upon her return to Dongargarh. Representing India in the 63 kg category, she competed in three events—Ne-waza, Fighting System, and Mixed Duo Fighting—against strong competitors from Vietnam, Jordan, Kazakhstan, and Thailand.
In a proud moment for India, Vasundhara secured the bronze medal, and achieved a fourth-place ranking in Asia in the Fighting System category. Her impressive feat marked a significant milestone not just for Dongargarh, but for the entire state of Chhattisgarh.

Upon her arrival at Delhi International Airport, the Indian contingent received an enthusiastic reception. Vasundhara, along with fellow Chhattisgarh athlete Jatin Rahul, was welcomed at Raipur Airport by the Raipur District Sports Association.
Traveling by road to Dongargarh with her father and coach, Rana Ajay Singh, Vasundhara’s first stop was the holy shrine of Maa Bamleshwari Devi, where she offered prayers of gratitude. A formal welcome ceremony was organized by the temple trust committee, Dongargarh BJP unit, and other community leaders.

Notable attendees included Manoj Agrawal (Trust Committee President), Ramji Bharti (General Secretary, Chhattisgarh BJP), Raman Dongre (Municipal President), Vivek Monu Bhandari (President, District Sports Association), and several prominent citizens such as Vinita Yadav, Achala Thakur, Shyam Tiwari, and Jaspreet Singh.
Speaking at the event, Vivek Monu Bhandari praised Vasundhara’s dedication and discipline. “Her success without any formal sports infrastructure in Dongargarh is remarkable,” he said, adding that efforts will be made to lobby the government for better sports facilities in the region.

District Sports Secretary Tarun Varkade shared comprehensive details of the achievement, highlighting the importance of supporting emerging talent in smaller towns.
The celebration was not just a moment of pride but also a call to action for authorities to strengthen the sports ecosystem in Dongargarh and similar regions to nurture future champions.
