Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh on Wednesday attended the Guru Ghasidas Baba Jayanti celebrations held at Guru Ghasidas Dharamshala, Guru Ghasidas Chowk, Nandai Road in Rajnandgaon. On the occasion, he performed the bhoomipujan (foundation stone laying ceremony) for a community building to be constructed at a cost of ₹10 lakh.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Raman Singh said that the blessings of Baba Guru Ghasidas have ensured harmony, peace, goodwill and love across the country and the state. He noted that Guru Ghasidas Baba’s incarnation day reminds society of the values of equality, simplicity and unity. Referring to the white flag associated with Baba Guru Ghasidas, he said it symbolises peace, love, harmony, oneness and unwavering faith, and is revered as a sacred emblem of Baba’s teachings.

Dr Singh highlighted that Giroudpuri, the birthplace of Baba Guru Ghasidas, is renowned across the country and the world. He said that in keeping with Baba’s dignity and ideals, a unique and grand Jaitkham—the tallest in the nation—has been constructed at Giroudpuri. He added that it was only through Baba’s blessings that such a monumental project could be realised.
The Assembly Speaker further stated that the state government has constructed Manglik Bhavans for social activities in nearly all villages, laid concrete roads, and strengthened education and healthcare infrastructure. He mentioned initiatives such as the establishment of Navodaya schools, free coaching facilities and improved arrangements for primary education.
Emphasising the importance of education, Dr Raman Singh said that education is the foundation of societal progress and leadership. He stressed that education is essential for both boys and girls, a message strongly conveyed through the Panth of Baba Guru Ghasidas. He noted that Baba’s teachings of renouncing violence, meat and intoxicants are not limited to any one community but are meant for all humanity. The world, he said, will progress when values such as compassion, harmony, simplicity and non-violence are adopted.

Dr Singh also informed the gathering that the new Chhattisgarh Assembly building has been completed and invited members of the community to visit and witness the Assembly proceedings.
Former MLA Ramji Bharti extended greetings on Guru Ghasidas Jayanti and said that society continues to move forward guided by Baba’s message of “Manakhé-Manakhé Ek Saman” (all human beings are equal). He observed that the Satnami community is emerging as a progressive and leading section of society.
The welcome address was delivered by Narendra Rai, President of the City Satnami Samaj Seva Samiti, Rajnandgaon. The programme was attended by Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, Komal Singh Rajput, Ramesh Patel, Councillor Kevra Roy, former councillor Vijay Rai, Additional Collector C.L. Markandey, SDM Gautam Patil, other public representatives and officials, along with a large number of members of the Satnami community.
