Emphasizing the transformative role of education for girls, Assembly Speaker and MLA Dr. Raman Singh declared, “When a daughter is educated, she uplifts not just her family but also builds the foundation for future generations.” He was addressing a large gathering at Sukuldaihan village in Rajnandgaon block, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation for development works worth over ₹2.5 crore.
The event marked the inauguration of the newly constructed Swami Atmanand English Medium Higher Secondary School building, built at a cost of ₹1.78 crore. Dr. Singh also inaugurated a community hall worth ₹10 lakh and laid the foundation stone for a Primary Health Centre costing ₹61.96 lakh. Additionally, he announced ₹10 lakh for further development works in the village.

Under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, meritorious girl students from government schools who topped their 10th and 12th board examinations were felicitated with cash incentives and certificates of appreciation. Suposhit Kits were distributed to eight undernourished children identified under the Potth Laika Abhiyan to improve their health and nutrition. Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) also received symbolic house keys and certificates.
Dr. Singh noted that initiatives like the Saraswati Bicycle Distribution Scheme have significantly increased female student enrollment. “Earlier, distance to schools was a barrier for girls’ education. With cycles, dropout rates reduced and now nearly 100% of girl students attend school,” he added.
Highlighting recent educational reforms, Dr. Singh reminded that free online JEE and NEET coaching was launched in nearby Somni village, with 21 students from Sukuldaihan already identified to participate. “We want more doctors and engineers to emerge from rural areas. This coaching will prepare our children for competitive success,” he said.3
