Agriculture Department Conducts Surprise Inspections at 25 Pesticide Centres in Rajnandgaon

Show-Cause Notices Issued to 20 Sellers; Seizure and Custody Action Taken at Five Establishments

Acting on the directions of Collector Jitendra Yadav, the Agriculture Department has intensified inspections across Rajnandgaon district to ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs to farmers during the Kharif season and to effectively prevent the illegal and unauthorised sale of pesticides.

Under the guidance of Deputy Director Agriculture Tikam Singh Thakur, teams from the Agriculture Department conducted surprise inspections at the sales premises of licensed pesticide dealers across different parts of the district.

The department teams carried out simultaneous action at 25 pesticide-selling establishments. During the inspections, officials examined licences, stock registers, available pesticides, sales records and other necessary documents.

After irregularities were found under the provisions of the Insecticides Act, 1968 and Insecticides Rules, 1971, show-cause notices were issued to 20 sellers, while seizure and custody action was taken at five sales premises.

The department said strict action would be taken against dealers found selling pesticides without following the prescribed procedure, failing to properly maintain stock, violating licence conditions or trading pesticides contrary to prescribed standards.

20 Establishments Issued Show-Cause Notices

Deputy Director Agriculture Tikam Singh Thakur said show-cause notices were issued to the following 20 establishments during the inspection:

Durga Krishi Kendra, Dumardih; Sinha Krishi Kendra, Tilai; Chhattisgarh Krishi Kendra, Lakholli Naka, Rajnandgaon; Mahavir Traders, Basantpur; Sonkar Krishi Kendra, Purana Ganj Chowk; Bharat Krishi Kendra, Purana Ganj Chowk, Rajnandgaon; Prajapati Krishi Seva Kendra, Kokpur; Shivam Krishi Kendra, Mohad; Hariom Krishi Kendra, Arsitola; Sahu Krishi Kendra, Chhuriya; Aaru Krishi Kendra, Chhuriya; Lakshmi Krishi Kendra, Chhuriya; Sinha Krishi Kendra, Dhusera; Hariom Krishi Kendra, Musarakala; and Puran Agrotech, Dhara, among the 20 sales establishments.

Seizure and Custody Action at Five Centres

Similarly, seizure and custody action was taken as per rules at Shri Krishi Kendra, Kumhalori; Shivshakti Krishi Kendra, Surgi; Sahu Krishi Kendra, Uparwah; Chhattisgarh Krishi Kendra, Singarpur; and Sahu Krishi Kendra, Kokpur.

Dealers Directed to Follow Prescribed Guidelines

Deputy Director Agriculture Tikam Singh Thakur urged all licensed pesticide dealers in the district to sell only quality pesticides at prescribed rates to farmers and ensure compliance with all rules and guidelines laid down by the government.

He said providing quality agricultural inputs to farmers remains the department’s top priority.

Any irregularity in pesticide quality, stock or sales arrangements will invite strict action against the concerned dealers under the provisions of the Insecticides Act.

The Agriculture Department said inspection and verification activities would continue across the district to ensure the quality of agricultural inputs.

Collector Jitendra Yadav reviewed the arrangements, while Zila Panchayat CEO Durga Prasad Adhikari performed the role of chief guest and hoisted the national flag. A total of 15 platoons will participate in the parade.
