In a stringent move to ensure transparency and discipline during the ongoing paddy procurement season, the Rajnandgaon district administration has taken action against four employees for negligence in duty. These employees, deployed at interstate check posts to curb illegal transportation of paddy, were found absent from their designated duty locations.
Acting under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966, the administration has ordered the withholding of one annual increment (with non-cumulative effect) for each of the four employees.
The employees penalised include:
- Nagar Sainik Santaram Markande
- Nagar Sainik Chumman Singh
- Peon, Dongargarh Mandi Yogesh Mandloi
- Peon, Dongargaon Mandi Ramesh Kumar Kosre
According to officials, the district administration had deployed mandi staff and Nagar Sena personnel on round-the-clock duty at interstate check posts to prevent the inflow of illegally transported paddy from neighbouring states. However, during surprise inspections, these employees were found absent, compromising the monitoring system at critical points.

Collector Jitendra Yadav has directed all officers and staff involved in paddy procurement operations to strictly adhere to duty schedules and ensure that no negligence occurs at any stage. He emphasised that preventing illegal paddy transport is a top priority, and any lapse directly affects the integrity of the procurement process.
The administration has reiterated that stringent action will continue against any employee who fails to perform assigned duties during the procurement period, as the district aims to maintain transparency and efficiency throughout the season.
