Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav on Sunday convened a comprehensive meeting with all paddy procurement committee managers and data entry operators at the Collectorate auditorium to review district-level preparations. Emphasising honesty, discipline, and team spirit, the Collector said that any lapse in responsibilities during the procurement season would not be tolerated.

He announced that committee managers and data entry operators delivering outstanding performance during the procurement drive would be felicitated by the administration. The Collector also carried out an in-depth review of acreage declarations in sensitive and highly sensitive committees.

Highlighting concerns of possible light rainfall, he directed procurement committees to ensure the safe storage of paddy, including timely arrangements for cap covers, drainage systems, and other protective measures. Committees where buffer limits had been increased were instructed to identify and secure appropriate storage spaces in advance.

Expressing concern over illegal grain transportation, the Collector warned that strict action must be taken against brokers, commission agents, and middlemen attempting to bypass the system. “All staff must remain alert and monitor suspicious activities near procurement centres,” he said, adding that any information related to middlemen should be immediately shared with the respective SDM.

With the verification of paddy stock set to begin shortly, all committee personnel were directed to remain fully vigilant. The Collector underlined that procurement must strictly adhere to the government’s priority of ensuring clean, legitimate paddy procurement from genuine farmers without inconvenience.

Additional Collector Prem Prakash Sharma informed the gathering that individuals involved in illegal transportation of paddy would face charges under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, applicable in cases of fraud. Detailed legal provisions were also explained regarding punitive action against middlemen and government employees found complicit in illegal transportation.

The meeting was attended by Food Officer Ravindra Soni, DMO Heena Khan, CEO of District Cooperative Central Bank Sudhir Soni, SDM Dongargarh M. Bhargav, SDM Rajnandgaon Gautamchand Patil, SDM Dongargaon Shrikant Koram, committee managers and data entry operators from across the district.
