Grand ceremony held in presence of Governor, Chief Minister and other dignitaries; new facility to provide advanced eye treatment services to rural patients

The cultural city of Rajnandgaon witnessed a significant moment today as the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the ‘Late Jugal Kishore ji Sarda Memorial Udayachal Multi-Specialty Eye Care and Research Institute’, established by the service-oriented organization Udayachal. Constructed at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore, the state-of-the-art institute is expected to provide high-quality eye care services to patients, particularly from rural and remote areas.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Governor Shri Raman Deka, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, cabinet ministers, local legislators, Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, and several distinguished citizens.
Dr. Raman Singh highlighted the institute’s importance, stating that the new facility will further strengthen Rajnandgaon’s identity as the “Cultural Capital” of the region. Mayor Madhusudan Yadav also termed the institution a milestone in the healthcare development of the city.
This institute has been established in memory of Late Jugal Kishore Ji Sarda, renowned for his invaluable contributions to social welfare. After the inauguration, the Vice President toured the hospital along with Padma Shri Dr. Pukhraj Bafna, interacted with doctors, staff, and patients undergoing treatment.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President said,
“Eyesight is the foundation of life. Institutions like this play a crucial role in reducing healthcare disparities in rural and underserved regions.”
Tight Security Ensured; Event Conducted Smoothly
Considering the high-profile visit, a strong security arrangement was put in place under the supervision of Inspector General Abhishek Shandilya and Divisional Commissioner Satyanarayan Rathore. Entry to the venue was restricted to invited guests only, ensuring smooth crowd and protocol management.

Routine services at the eye hospital continued for pre-registered patients, while OPD services for new walk-in patients remained closed for the day.
Nearby religious places, including Baba Ramdev (Ramsa Pir) Temple and Ganj Balaji Temple, continued regular prayer services, with devotees facing no inconvenience due to the security arrangements.
