District Collector Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure has directed officials of the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure effective and timely implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in rural areas. Expressing serious displeasure over incomplete construction works due to contractor negligence, the Collector instructed strict action against defaulting contractors and mandated all sub-engineers to conduct field inspections.
During a detailed review meeting held at the Collectorate, Dr. Bhure emphasized the urgent repair of defunct hand pumps and consistent efforts to maintain uninterrupted drinking water supply, especially in areas affected by declining groundwater levels. He stressed that the mission is a key initiative of the government and must be executed with high standards of quality and efficiency.
The Collector also reviewed the status of solar pump installations, pipeline connections, overhead reservoirs, and household tap connections. Executive Engineer Sameer Sharma informed that chlorination of water sources and maintenance of hand pumps is ongoing, and a toll-free number along with a WhatsApp group has been set up to address water-related grievances at the village level.
To manage potential water shortages during the summer, the district has initiated hydro-fracturing of dried sources and implemented the Water Conservation Act until June 30, 2025. Senior officials, including CEO Zila Panchayat Suruchi Singh, were present at the meeting.
