Police Seize Mobile Phone Used in the Alleged Crime; Search Underway for Three Other Suspects

Police in the Basantpur police station area of Rajnandgaon have arrested one person for allegedly demanding ₹5 lakh in extortion after threatening a man with being implicated in a false ganja case.
Police have also seized the mobile phone allegedly used in the incident. The search for three other suspects allegedly involved in the case is continuing.
Victim Allegedly Taken to Isolated Location
According to the police, the complainant reported that Vicky Pawar had called him and asked him to come to Bhadauria Chowk with beer. When he reached the location, Pawar allegedly arrived in a car with his associate Naveen Sahu and took the complainant with them.
The complainant was subsequently taken to an isolated location near the cremation ground from Amora Pond, according to the complaint.
After some time, two youths allegedly arrived at the spot on a motorcycle while wearing civilian clothes. They reportedly identified themselves as Cyber Police personnel and searched the car.
Threat of False Ganja Case
According to the complaint, the two men claimed that they had found 20 kilograms of ganja in the car and allegedly threatened the complainant with being implicated in a false narcotics case.
They allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh from him.

Fearing the consequences, the complainant called his family members and asked them to bring ₹2.5 lakh. The family members later reached the location and took him to the Basantpur police station, where a complaint was registered.
One Suspect Arrested, Mobile Phone Seized
Police registered Crime No. 482/2026 under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and began an investigation.
Based on technical and other evidence, police detained Naveen Sahu (27), a resident of Nandai Chowk, Rajnandgaon.
Police said that during questioning, Sahu admitted to being involved in the incident at the alleged direction of Vicky Pawar. The mobile phone allegedly used in the crime was seized from his possession.
Naveen Sahu was subsequently arrested and produced before the court, where he was sent to judicial custody.
Search Underway for Three Other Suspects
Police teams are conducting searches at possible locations to trace the three other suspects allegedly involved in the case.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore and City Superintendent of Police Vaishali Jain, and under the leadership of Basantpur Police Station in-charge Inspector Kaulesh Dewangan.
Police said Sub-Inspector Naresh Sarva and other police personnel also played a role in the investigation and action.
