Electrical material worth around ₹50,000 recovered; accused sent to jail in judicial remand

City Kotwali Police have arrested a habitual offender in connection with the theft of electrical material from the Power House premises and sent him to jail on judicial remand. Police recovered electrical material worth approximately ₹50,000 from the accused.
According to the police, a complainant lodged a report at City Kotwali Police Station on September 21, 2026, stating that electrical material kept at the Assistant Engineer Project premises at Kailash Nagar Power House had been stolen.
The stolen material included 286 kg of dog conductor, 87 sets of Eximer biometallic clamps, 197 sets of Eximer lugs and 18 Eximer bushing caps (nuts). The total value of the stolen material was assessed at ₹2,16,631.
The theft was reported to have taken place between the night of August 25 and the morning of August 28, 2026.
A case was registered at City Kotwali Police Station under Crime No. 570/26, Section 303(2) of the BNS, and an investigation was initiated.
CCTV Footage and Informer Input Help Police Trace Accused
Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma (IPS), and under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Keerti Rathore and City Superintendent of Police Satyaprakash Tiwari, the police team, led by Inspector Upendra Kumar Shah, examined CCTV footage from the incident site and surrounding areas.
Based on clues obtained from the CCTV footage and information received from an informer, police detained Dipesh alias Raju Shrivas (36), son of late Santosh Shrivas, a resident of Ram Nagar, behind Power House, Ward No. 30, Rajnandgaon.
According to police, during questioning, the accused admitted to committing the theft.
Police said the accused disclosed that he had sold some of the stolen material to Manish Kasar, a resident of Thethwarpara, Rajnandgaon, for ₹4,000.
In connection with the buyer, police initiated proceedings by serving a notice under Section 41(A) of the Code of Criminal Procedure and added Section 317(2) of the BNS to the case.
Electrical Material Worth ₹50,000 Recovered
Police recovered electrical material worth approximately ₹50,000 from the accused, including dog conductor, Eximer biometallic clamps, Eximer lugs and Eximer bushing caps (nuts).
The accused was formally arrested on September 22, 2026, and produced before the court. The court subsequently sent him to jail on judicial remand.

- Crime No. 632/25 — Section 3(2), Public Gambling Act
Police Team’s Role
The operation was carried out with the significant contribution of Inspector Upendra Kumar Shah, Cyber Cell Inspector Vinay Pammar, ASI Israfil Khan, Head Constables Sandeep Chauhan, G. Cyril Kumar, Avinash Jha and Prakhyat Jain, along with other police station staff.
