Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav felicitated beneficiaries of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana for promoting solar energy and supporting the successful implementation of the scheme in the district.
During the program, the Collector presented certificates of appreciation to Anjum Ali, a resident of Atal Awas Kanchanbagh in Rajnandgaon, and Vishnuram Sahu from Bhothipar Kala village, who have benefited from the installation of rooftop solar systems under the central government scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Yadav said that the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is an important initiative aimed at providing citizens with affordable and clean energy. Under the scheme, solar rooftop systems are installed on residential buildings, allowing households to generate their own electricity.
He said that the initiative not only reduces electricity bills for consumers but also contributes significantly to environmental conservation by promoting renewable energy. The Collector urged citizens to take maximum advantage of the scheme and adopt solar power for their homes.

During an interaction with the beneficiaries, they shared their experiences after installing rooftop solar systems under the scheme. They said their electricity bills have now dropped to zero, providing major financial relief to their families.
Earlier, they used to receive electricity bills of around ₹1,000 per month, but after installing solar panels, they are now saving money while also contributing to the use of clean energy. The beneficiaries also mentioned that once the system produces surplus electricity, they will soon be able to sell extra power units to the grid, providing an additional source of income.
They expressed gratitude to the government for launching the scheme and said it is highly beneficial for citizens, especially in reducing household electricity expenses while promoting sustainable energy practices.
The program was attended by Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat Suruchi Singh, Additional Collector Prem Prakash Sharma, and officials and staff from the concerned departments.
