Over 1,000 under-17 boys and girls from 36 states and institutions to compete at Digvijay Stadium

The 69th National School Games, organised under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India and hosted by the School Education Department, will be held at Digvijay Stadium in Rajnandgaon from January 11 to January 15, 2026. The prestigious national-level tournament will feature basketball competitions for boys and girls in the under-17 category.
Teams from 36 states and educational institutions across the country will participate, showcasing high-quality basketball talent. A total of 1,006 players will compete in the championship, including 429 boys and 402 girls in the under-17 basketball category, along with team officials and support staff.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for January 11 at 10 am at Digvijay Stadium. Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh will grace the occasion as the chief guest, while School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav will preside over the function. Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Neelu Sharma, District Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Sachin Baghel, former Vice-Chairman of the 20-Point Programme Implementation Committee Khoobchand Parakh, former Vice-Chairman of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Komal Singh Rajput, and Chairman of the Education Committee of Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation Alok Shroti will attend as special guests.

The valedictory ceremony will take place on January 15 at 11 am at the same venue. Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey will be the chief guest, while District Panchayat President Kiran Ravindra Vaishnav will preside over the closing ceremony. Other dignitaries expected to attend include Dongargaon MLA Daleshwar Sahu, Khujji MLA Bholaram Sahu, Dongargarh MLA Harshita Swami Baghel, Labour Welfare Board Chairman Yogeshdatt Mishra, District Panchayat Vice-President Kiran Sahu, Janpad Panchayat Rajnandgaon President Pratima Chandrakar, and former Rajgami Sampada Nyas chairmen Santosh Agrawal and Ramesh Patel.

Participating teams will represent states and regions including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and host state Chhattisgarh. Teams from CBSE (WSO and CBSE), CISCE, DAV, IBSSO, IPSC, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and Vidya Bharati will also participate.
The organising committee has confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the championship have been completed, including accommodation, security and sporting facilities, as Rajnandgaon prepares to host young basketball talent from across the nation.
