A district-level workshop on groundwater recharge and water conservation was organised at the District Panchayat conference hall in Rajnandgaon under the chairmanship of Dr D. Gyan Sundar, Regional Director, Central Ground Water Board, Chhattisgarh. Officials and technical experts discussed scientific methods of rainwater harvesting, groundwater augmentation and sustainable water management, emphasising inter-departmental coordination and public participation.
Balodabazar–Bhatapara district has emerged as the top performer in Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) for 2025–26. With more than 26,800 houses sanctioned and over 20,000 constructions already underway, the district has set a new benchmark in rural housing delivery, supported by strong administrative leadership and enthusiastic community participation.
A seven-state delegation visited Rajnandgaon to review MGNREGA initiatives, including water conservation, plantation, and waste management projects. Officials praised the local innovations as models for sustainable rural development and encouraged their adoption across India.
As part of the “Moor Gaon, Moor Pani” campaign, a cluster-level training camp was successfully conducted in Gendatola village under Chhuriya block, Rajnandgaon district. The session, graced by Zila Panchayat President Smt. Kiran Vaishnav, emphasized rainwater harvesting and conservation methods for rural communities. Local leaders, women’s groups, and villagers participated actively in the initiative, which also included a tree plantation under the “One Tree in Mother's Name” campaign.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh on Sunday commended Rajnandgaon district’s ongoing water conservation efforts under Mission Jal Raksha, highlighting innovative groundwater recharge structures that utilize highway runoff to combat water scarcity and revive dry aquifers.
