With the implementation of the Police Commissionerate system in Raipur, senior IPS officer Sanjeev Shukla (2004 batch) has assumed charge as the city’s first Police Commissioner. The move marks a major shift in Raipur’s policing structure, aimed at faster decision-making, stronger accountability, and improved law-and-order management in the rapidly growing state capital.

The Supreme Court has given the Madhya Pradesh government and CBI until October 7 to arrest two absconding police officers accused in the custodial death of 25-year-old Deva Pardhi. Justices warned of contempt action for continued inaction, calling the failure to apprehend the accused “unpardonable.”
